Bank of America Suspends Foreclosures

Foreclosure

Under increasing pressure from government-run mortgage firm, Freddie Mac, Bank of America has imposed a nationwide moratorium on foreclosures and sales of foreclosed homes.

At issue is the foreclosure documentation process which may be inadequate. Because bank employees may sign hundreds of foreclosure documents a day, there is a risk that foreclosures may be processed without adequate review, possibly leading to improperly documented foreclosures. Improper foreclosures may unfairly threaten homeowners and creates risk for mortgage owners and the banks that service them.
