The legal team from Phillips Law Offices, an Illinois medical malpractice law firm, has completed a $3.8 million settlement on behalf of the family of a 45 year-old man who died at Resurrection Medical Center in 2007 just three days after surgery to remove a benign tumor in his heart.
CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) - The case, Pinarkyil v. Resurrection Medical Center, et. al. (Case No. L 10009) was on trial before Hon. Patrick F. Lustig of the Circuit Court of Cook County at the time the settlement was reached. Judge Lustig entered the order dismissing the case pursuant to the settlement on May 19, 2011. The case stemmed from a series of events in June 2007.
The plaintiff's complaint alleged that after his surgery on June 1st, Abraham Pinarkyil began to experience cardiac abnormalities -- as well as signs of shock – while in the ICU.

The Louisiana Supreme Court has ordered a state appeal court to reconsider its ruling that nurse-practitioners cannot be covered by the state's $500,000 cap on general malpractice awards.
