New York Personal Injury Lawyers

As prominent accused sexual offenders make headlines—most recently Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund and leading French politician—it helps spread awareness for other victims that they have rights, including the right to pursue a civil case against their assailant for monetary compensation, according to New York personal injury lawyer Neal Goldstein, a partner in the law firm of Goldstein and Bashner.

Florida Personal Injury Lawyers

Current proposals to cut the salaries and resources of Florida’s circuit court judges may save money, says senior partner at Miami-based Gerson & Schwartz, but they will increase case backlogs, keep judicial ranks from growing, and prevent injury victims and crime victims from obtaining justice-- and accountability.

MIAMI, Florida (PRWEB) - Florida’s courts are overwhelmed and its judges underpaid, says Miami personal injury lawyer Philip M. Gerson, and the solution is to increase resources -- not decrease them. Gerson -- senior partner at the law firm Gerson & Schwartz -- warns that recent proposals to cut the salaries, and resources, of Florida circuit court judges will only increase case backlogs and keep judicial ranks from growing, hindering the ability of crime and injury victims to have their day in court -- and get the answers and accountability they deserve.

NEWPORT BEACH, California (PRWEB) - Screenwriters and sports broadcasters celebrate athletes who endure injury to win the game, but “working through the pain” after an accident can severely counteract recovery.

We read about athletes, “playing through the pain,” all the time: Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scoring 19 points on a sprained ankle to help the team win a pivotal playoff game. Such coverage sends athletes injured in serious accidents the wrong message about rehabilitation, reinforcing the stigma of a lengthy recovery many of them already have.

California Supreme Court Ends Big Tobacco’s Campaign to Deny Smokers Justice

California Personal Injury Lawyers

In a decision sparked by Certified Questions from the Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Supreme Court weighed in on the question of whether the earliest injury from tobacco use started the statute of limitations running for all future injuries as well. The Court's opinion stated that "the earlier disease does not trigger the statute of limitations for a lawsuit based on the later disease."

SAN FRANCISCO, California (PRWEB) - On May 5, 2011, the California Supreme Court ended big tobacco’s campaign to deny Californians injured by tobacco access to justice. In the case of Nikki Pooshs, big tobacco had successfully argued in the lower court that a lung cancer victim could not sue them because the victim’s time to do so had expired decades before when the victim experienced a lesser tobacco injury.
